Huhtamo International Film Festival Returns Bigger Than Ever – Anniversary Dates Announced!

The Huhtamo International Film Festival, now in its fifth edition, will once again spread across the heart of Satakunta, in the idyllic countryside of Huittinen's Huhtamo, from July 17th to July 27th, 2025. No more worrying about summer plans overlapping, as this year we’ll be celebrating two full weekends plus the days in between in honor of our anniversary!

Our film festival is known to live, grow, and evolve every year, and to celebrate this milestone, we're doing something truly unique on a global scale by combining our festival celebrations with a domestic film production. Next summer, the filming of the rural romantic zombie comedy "SIKATILA" will take place in conjunction with the festival! And you have the chance to be a part of this one-of-a-kind film experience!

The Huhtamo International Film Festival will offer an over-a-week-long experience filled with films, music, food, drinks, art, and relaxed togetherness next summer. The festival kicks off on Thursday, July 17th, with our traditional 'Church Cinema' event and continues in classic style until Sunday. Afterward, we begin filming "Sikatila" as part of the festival, and in addition to regular festival passes, you can purchase a special "Your Face on the Silver Screen VIP Ticket," which grants you the opportunity to appear as an extra in this full-length zombie comedy. For those who may not want to be on screen but are still interested in the filmmaking process, there's the "Observer Pass" which allows you to closely follow the filming – like a fly on the wall.

As the second festival weekend approaches, we return to our traditional program: watching movies, enjoying music, indulging in food and drink, reconnecting with old friends, and making new ones – all while soaking in the Huhtamo-style fun. And, of course, we'll be celebrating the interim wrap party for "Sikatila" together.

The Huhtamo International Film Festival will conclude its anniversary edition on Sunday, July 27th.

All in all, we're incredibly excited to combine our film festival with the domestic "Sikatila" film project. This gives all visitors the chance to get a glimpse of the magic of filmmaking and even take part in creating it firsthand!

With this approach, we want to demonstrate just how to think outside the box, by giving our audience the opportunity to become part of this unique filmmaking process and, in doing so, engage with the film festival in an entirely new way. In Huhtamo, everything is possible.

We will gradually share more information about the program, tickets, and other details on our website and, of course, on social media. The traditional 'Pig in a Poke' festival ticket is already available in our Holvi online store, and naturally, it includes everything.
